Renew 'The Acolyte' Immediately
Taking advantage of when the culture war strikes back.
At the start of this week, the online right was ascendant—after all, they owned Anakin Skywalker now.
A few days later, however, it looks like having the high ground has once again paid off.
The United States woke up this morning to a swath of midterm election results unlike anything seen in the country in decades. Senate and House majorities for the Democrats by significant margins. Historical first-ever elections for a host of demographics, from openly queer and trans lawmakers to Latina and Native governors. A Texas so thoroughly blue, it would give Tobias Fünke a run for his money. The time of Anakin posting was already over; his dick and balls burned clean off on the molten shores of Mustafar. Even the Democrats' party apparatus was Nemik posting.
The illusion of the right-wing "vibe shift" since the beginning of the second Trump administration has always been a brittle one, but last night it seemed to have well and truly shattered. And yet, that illusion did, for a time, at least capture some elements of culture—not the ones that would've actually entrenched some kind of right-wing thought among the broader populace, but in the air of fear that perceived shift created among major studios who rushed to capitulate to what they saw as an incoming and seemingly unassailable rightwards hegemony.

There is a lot for this blue wave of newly elected lawmakers to get started on once they are sworn into power in a few months. But given the resurgence away from the right as a cultural force this week, and in light of their own online attempts to declare victory in the ever-shifting fronts of the culture wars, I have one suggestion already: Disney, there has never been a better time for The Acolyte season two.
